Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 41-year-old from Warsaw, happy father of two daughters. In 2022, he met with a motorbike accident, which resulted in a multi-organ injury and amputation of his right leg at thigh level. Before the amputation he was very active (gym, swimming pool, running). After the accident, he spent several months in bed. Thanks to hard work and rehabilitation so far, he is slowly getting back to daily functioning. Ahead of him is further physiotherapy and preparations for the purchase of a final prosthetic leg. His dream is to return to joint activities with his daughters, walks and bike rides. As he says himself, when he starts walking, he will be able to return to professional activity and full independence. Thanks to the PBR runners, he will receive a rehabilitation camp.

Stefania Fabisiak

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 70-year-old woman from Piekary Slaskie who has had her leg amputated due to a malignant tumour in her thigh. Ms Stefania is very active, working socially at the Polish Association of the Blind and Visually Impaired, where she organises family picnics, integration trips and workshops. She was awarded the Golden Badge of the Polish Association of the Blind for her 23 years of activity. She is also a member of the KOMAR sports club. She has won several trophies in laser shooting and Nordic walking. She dreamt of being more mobile and independent. Thanks to rehabilitation, Ms Stefania was able to take her first steps with a prosthesis without support.

Jolanta Leśniewska

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 50-year-old from the Warsaw area, mother of two daughters and a lover of running. She works in a showroom with a 100-year tradition, where she passionately creates stamps and business cards and sells fountain pens, which she also collects herself. She is a breast amputee due to cancer. During the surgery, her shoulder was also damaged and as a result, her hand does not function as it should. Until her illness, Jolanta used to run, swim and go to the gym. Her hobbies include travelling and photography. Thanks to the runners of the Poland Business Run, she will receive rehabilitation to help her return to fitness and pursue her passions.

Patrycja Krawczyk

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 47-year-old woman from Wrocław began her battle with breast cancer in 2018 and underwent a mastectomy with simultaneous reconstruction and excision of all lymph nodes on her right hand side. She had to undergo chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone therapy. She struggles with daily pain in her bones, joints and an non-operational arm. Despite her illness, she has not given up her professional activity and works in a kindergarten with 3-year-olds. However, she needs total mobility to work, which is why she applied to the Poland Business Run Foundation for a specialist rehabilitation stay. She is fighting not only for herself, but also for her daughter Hania, whom she is raising on her own. Her biggest dream is simply to participate in her child's life. Patrycja believes that she will regain her strength so that one day she can climb Rysy.

Jan Folga

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

The 33-year-old from Kasinka Mała in Lesser Poland had an accident in 2020 while testing a motorbike engine in preparation for a competition in the USA and has been in a wheelchair ever since. Before breaking his back, he was a member of the national team in Enduro Rallies, and became the second vice-champion of Poland. Janek is a walking volcano of positive energy, a keen sportsman who quickly found himself in a new situation and changed sports discipline. He has already won the title of European vice-champion and world vice-champion in indoor para-sailing. To be able to pursue his passions, he needs new equipment. Last year he bought a second-hand wheelchair on his own, but it is not a good fit, which resulted in several falls. Thanks to the runners of the Poland Business Run, he will receive a new wheelchair that will allow him to move around comfortably on a daily basis and continue his sporting development..

Norbert Pielka

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 44-year-old from Wolbrom in the Małopolska region, he had his thigh amputated in 2011 due to an accident. Since then, he has been moving about on a prosthesis. Norbert works for a company that manufactures refrigeration equipment, coaches amp football and spends his free time with his children. He is interested in sports and the automotive industry, and his dream is to visit Asian countries. Unfortunately, his prosthesis is already several years old and needs to be replaced. A new one, subsidised by the Foundation, will allow him to move around comfortably and continue his professional work.

Grażyna Płaszko-Tyndzik

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 71-year-old woman from Sitno in Pomerania. In July 2021, she underwent amputation of her right leg due to a sarcoma of the lower leg. She currently moves around in a wheelchair or on a prosthesis. She dreams of being independent for as long as possible. After a few months of re-learning, she returned to driving, making her more independent and able to commute to Gdansk for treatment on her own. Her dream is to be able to get around safely with a prosthesis and to regain her mental balance. She would like to be an active grandmother again for her five grandchildren and explore interesting parts of Poland and the world, continue to be active in the Senior Citizens' Initiative Club and, as far as she can, continue working as a construction engineer.

Marta Kryjom

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 45-year-old from Poznań, wife and mother of two daughters. She has undergone a radical mastectomy and a lymphadenectomy of the lymph nodes in her right arm due to cancer treatment. She is energetic, sociable and curious about the world. She loves to hike in the mountains, travel, discover new places, people and flavours. Recently, she has taken an interest in painting pictures and creating decorations. She tries to stay active, exercising, walking and doing Nordic Walking. She dreams of being able to cycle and skate again and wants to learn to ski. Specialist post-mastectomy rehabilitation will help to make these dreams come true.

Mykola Myroshnychenko

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

The 17-year-old left Ukraine with his family, fleeing the war. Mykola is after several foot operations and therefore needs a wheelchair to continue moving independently. He suffers from neuropathy in his arms and legs. In Poland, he has started to develop athletically - he trains parabox and wheelchair basketball. Thanks to the runners, he will receive a new wheelchair, which will help him to increase his independence and enable him to continue his studies and sports passions.

Adam Buksa

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 62-year-old man from Przemyśl who has been affected by Buerger's disease since he was 28 years old. In July 2022, he had his leg amputated at thigh level due to thrombosis. Currently, he moves about with a prosthesis, assisted by crutches. Before the amputation, he collected mushrooms and went fishing in his spare time. Thanks to the runners, he received funding for a new prosthesis and rehabilitation with learning to walk with a prosthesis. This will help him move without crutches and go for walks, as well as making everyday life easier.

Agnieszka Świerczyńska

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 54-year-old woman from Jerzykowo, near Poznań. She developed breast cancer at the age of 39, started treatment and underwent further operations. In 2020, a recurrence occurred and she was diagnosed with invasive cancer. She underwent chemotherapy and immunotherapy and a mastectomy. Despite a difficult time in her life, she has tried to stay active, walk and move at least a little. She tries to share her experiences and positive energy with people who have also been affected by cancer. Before her illness, her passions were mountain climbing, cycling, long walks, skating and dancing. She hopes that rehabilitation will improve her quality of life after the mastectomy and will allow her to live actively and develop professionally.

Robert Walski

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 36-year-old from the Silesian Voivodeship, husband and father of two children. In 2021, he had a serious accident - his leg was torn off at thigh level while working in a mine. Doctors fought for his life and succeeded - Robert is now trying to return to full fitness. Before the accident, he spent a lot of time with his family - on walks and bike rides. Today he dreams of going on a bike ride with his son. Thanks to the runners, he has received a rehabilitation stay after the amputation, which will make it easier for him to move around independently in the future with a prosthesis.

Izabela Wincenty

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 49-year-old woman from Legnica who is an amputee of her left lower leg due to necrosis of the foot. Before the amputation, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and gardening. Today, she has difficulty moving about on a prosthesis. She would like to be more independent and mobile in order to return to work and to function normally. Thanks to the runners, she will receive a rehabilitation course after her amputation and the opportunity to learn to walk with a prosthesis under the guidance of specialists.

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 52-year-old from Tychy, she has undergone breast amputation due to cancer. She has many interests - she enjoys writing poems, short stories and practising Nordic walking - she took second place in a competition in this discipline. However, her greatest passion is walking in the mountains. She is also involved as a volunteer amazon. She likes people - it gives her a lot of joy to help other people. She has returned to work, which gives her a lot of satisfaction. She believes she has been given a second life after undergoing cancer treatment and is grateful for every day she lives. She needs rehabilitation to help her overcome the daily difficulties associated with the pain in her hands, even during simple household chores. She will receive it thanks to the runners of the Poland Business Run.

A 67-year-old man from the Malopolska region who had his leg crushed by an excavator while working on a construction site. He underwent lengthy treatment. He received a prosthesis from us in 2022, and this year, thanks to the runners, he will take part in a rehabilitation stay for amputees. He is supported daily by his wife and two daughters. His passion is fishing - he has set up his own pond. Together with his grandson, he enjoys going to the local fishing grounds. Thanks to rehabilitation, he will be able to move around more easily.

Robert Nowicki

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 54-year-old man from the Kłodzko area who in 1994 suffered a fracture of the thoracic spine during a cycling trip in the Bystrzyckie Mountains. Since then, he has been using a wheelchair. He quickly became interested in sports for people with disabilities and started trying his hand at various disciplines. Since 2001, he has competed in marathons, cycling races and the Polish Handbike Championships. He would like to continue this passion for as long as possible, as he considers it the best form of rehabilitation. He is professionally active, working in the technical support department of a large company. A new, customised wheelchair will allow him to function comfortably on a daily basis.

Zbigniew Kucała

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

A 49-year-old from Krakow after the amputation of three fingers of his right hand, a former rail traffic dispatcher whose hand was crushed by a narrow-gauge railway. Zbyszek is a full-time dad of seven children and a sports enthusiast. He enjoys cycling and table tennis. He believes that the prosthetic arm he will receive thanks to the runners of the Poland Business Run will help him in his everyday life, professional development and fulfilment of his dreams. He has a sporting goal - to perform during the Paralympics in a table tennis tournament with the white eagle on his chest. But that's not all! He wants to sing in the programme "Szansa na Sukces". He wants people to focus only on his voice during the performance, and he thinks a prosthetic arm will make that easier.

A 9-year-old from Lesser Poland who has been struggling with chronic osteomyelitis (CRMO) for 5 years. He cannot run and jump like his peers. At the age of three he broke his foot, when he was 5 he developed inflammation in his right hand and a year ago in his femur at the knee joint. He has had five operations and is awaiting more. He dreams of walking and cycling independently. The orthosis he will receive thanks to the runners and the long rehabilitation is a chance to return to normality.

Wojciech Kucharski

Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2023

Wojciech is a 53-year-old from Gdynia who had his leg amputated in 2022 due to sepsis. He suffers from diabetes and polyneuropathy. He is post-stroke. He has difficulty walking on a prosthesis, which significantly hinders his daily functioning. Thanks to the runners of the Poland Business Run, he received a rehabilitation course with gait training. He is very grateful, as he dreams of moving more efficiently and being more independent, both at work and at home. Health problems have had a huge impact on his life, but he has not given up. He changed his profession and adapted his work to his current health situation. His goal is to become fully fit in order to help others in a similar situation. He has even started studying psychology to become competent in this area.

Helena Krygier

Helena from Wielkopolska was born with infantile cerebral palsy. Today she is 18 years old and, thanks to continuous rehabilitation and her perseverance, she is achieving her dream goals. Her passion is wheelchair basketball. She is in the representation of the Integrative Sports Club - IKS 2017 Poznań. She trains intensively and improves her skills. For her, physical activity is an excellent form of rehabilitation and gives her a sense of fulfilment and independence. She would like to combine her career plans with her beloved sport - wheelchair basketball. Thanks to the runners, she will receive a new, well-fitting sports wheelchair so that she can feel confident on the court and pursue her sporting dreams.

A 49-year-old woman from Sosnowiec, Poland, underwent amputation and re-amputation of her left leg at thigh level in 2021 after a long illness of arterial adhesion and inflammation. With psychological support, she is returning to daily life after the amputation. She hopes that with continued rehabilitation with learning to walk on a prosthesis, she will finally be able to move without crutches, be more independent and spend more active time with her family: her husband and two daughters. She dreams of walking again and "getting her own life back.

A 69-year-old doctor from Sieradz, Lodz province, had his right leg amputated due to sepsis. An active doctor, long-time head of the department, he operated and treated at the hospital until the last moments before his illness, and ran a medical practice. Passionate about shooting, a lover of nature and hiking. After rehabilitation, he wants to remain professionally and socially active. Thanks to the support of the Poland Business Run Foundation in the form of a subsidy for a prosthesis and a rehabilitation stay, he will gain the opportunity to return to independence.

A 62-year-old woman from Bialystok who suffers from multiple sclerosis. Two years ago she was diagnosed with breast cancer, which led to a partial mastectomy. Today, she tries to devote as much time as possible to physical activity - she walks, goes to the pool and exercises regularly in order to stay fit despite her illness. At home, she also likes to read and knit, but she dreams of travelling far away. She believes that the rehabilitation course she received thanks to the runners of the Poland Business Run will help her return to her form from before the oncological disease.

A 66-year-old woman from Trzebinia near Zywiec developed malignant breast cancer with lymph node metastasis in 2017. She underwent chemotherapy and surgery for a double mastectomy and removal of lymph nodes. On a daily basis, she enjoys reading books, making preserves, baking cakes, Nordic walking and looking after her grandchildren. Unfortunately, the lymphoedema, arm pains and back pains make it difficult for her to function on a daily basis and perform various activities. The rehabilitation she has received will help improve her hand dexterity, as well as her overall physical condition and mental balance.

A girl originally from Ukraine who currently lives in Silesia. Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA type 2) is a disease that has left her in a wheelchair since she was two years old. She is cheerful and smiling, went to first grade this year and quickly found new friends. She doesn't give up, stubbornly pursues her goals and loves competition. She takes part in the Regional Active Rehabilitation Spartakiad. She represented her class at the school bocci competition. She dreams of sliding down a snowy mountain on a monoski. The wheelchair is an integral part of her, giving her freedom, independence and confidence. The new equipment will open doors for her to new opportunities and plans for the future.

A 61-year-old woman from Tychy, whose disability arose in 2013 (knee endoprosthesis) and in 2021 developed malignant breast cancer. The cancer was removed in a breast-sparing operation.  She is currently still undergoing treatment. Despite her health challenges, she tries to smile every day and enjoy the little things. She enjoys going for long walks and growing flowers. The rehabilitation she has received will help her to improve her hand after all the lymph nodes were removed and return to full health.

A 44-year-old woman from Chelmza, a mother of two daughters, suffered an accident at work in early 2023 - a forklift ran over her. They had to amputate her right leg, and her left leg suffered a fractured heel bone. Thanks to the runners of the Poland Business Run, she received a prosthesis that will help her return to her independence and physical activity from before the accident.

64-year-old from Krakow, who had his leg amputated in 2022 due to atherosclerosis. An electrician by profession, he and his wife have travelled extensively in Europe in the past. He is currently interested in sports, mainly football and tennis. Thanks to the support of the Poland Business Run, he can continue his rehabilitation, which will allow him to return to independence. Mr Marek has also received funding for an element of his prosthesis - an adapter, which enables him to function more efficiently.

Kamil Żeromski

A 35-year-old from the Pomeranian Voivodeship who suffers from limb paresis as a result of a traffic accident. For the past three years, he has been a member of the Szansa Start Gdańsk club, where he trains ball push and discus throw. Sport has become his passion and rehabilitation in everyday life. He already has his first successes to his credit - last year at the Polish Championships he won a bronze medal in discus throw. Thanks to the runners of the Poland Business Run, he will receive an active wheelchair, which will enable him to continue training and developing his sporting skills.

Radosław Pałys

A 31-year-old from the Subcarpathian region of Poland who is in a wheelchair as a result of a traffic accident. He is interested in sports, plays tennis, basketball and wheelchair rugby, swims and works out at the gym. He takes part in the Run of the Unbroken. He works in a print shop as a bookbinder. The wheelchair he received will help him develop his sporting passions.

Radosław Szczerbik

Radek is 5 years old and from the Lubuskie Voivodeship. This year he had his leg amputated as a result of sepsis, venous and arterial thrombosis of the leg. He is slowly recovering and getting back to his passions. He rides a tricycle, trains karate and fishes with his dad. Thanks to the runners, he received a prosthesis that will make his daily life easier.
