He gets around using a wheelchair and is slowly learning to walk on prostheses. His passion is travelling to interesting places and exploring the world. Before his second amputation, he actively explored various parts of Poland and Europe. Thanks to the support of participants in the Poland Business Run 2026, he will take part in a rehabilitation stay that will help him gain confidence in moving around on prostheses. As he says, thanks to the stay, he will become independent in his daily activities, achieve the best possible physical fitness and learn correct movement patterns. Rehabilitation will also make it easier for him to pursue his passion.

As a pensioner, he has plenty of time, but above all a great desire to help others. He enjoys gardening, mowing the lawn and doing minor tasks around the house. Marta shares her daily life on social media with a sense of perspective and humour, and is also involved in community work, supporting and motivating people who have undergone amputations. The runners of the Poland Business Run 2026 will help co-finance her technologically advanced prosthetic leg, thanks to which she will be able to continue living life to the full.

A 25-year-old woman from Kraków in the Lesser Poland Voivodeship. At the age of five, she was involved in a road accident, as a result of which her left lower leg was amputated. Since then, she has been using a prosthesis and leads an active life despite the challenges she faces. On her journey to regaining her mobility, she took up swimming, which became her passion. Sport is a very important part of her life – she loves rollerblading, cycling and longboarding, but snowboarding brings her the greatest joy. She also has a dog that requires training and long daily walks in the woods. It is a huge source of emotional support for her and motivates her to keep going. She loves travelling, and a good, functional prosthesis is absolutely essential for her. Thanks to the participants of the Poland Business Run 2026, Angelika will receive co-financing for a prosthesis tailored to her needs, which will give her greater comfort in her daily life and enable her to remain active. She recently completed her master’s degree and is just entering the job market; in the future, she would like to undertake postgraduate studies in psychotherapy so that she can help amputees and their loved ones navigate the adaptation process and find their place in their new reality.

She ran an amateur women’s volleyball team in her town, travelled to tournaments and refereed matches. He loves all forms of physical activity: he rides a handcycle, swims, sails, practises archery and plays table tennis. He works as an athletics coach and looks after the junior team in wheelchair racing. His dream is to try running with a prosthetic leg, as well as skiing whilst wearing it. Thanks to the runners taking part in the Poland Business Run 2026, he will receive funding for a prosthetic leg, which will enable him to realise these sporting dreams, as well as his plans to train young athletes.

Iwona has been fulfilling her childhood dream of working as a teacher for 26 years. She takes great joy in interacting with her pupils and sharing her knowledge with them. She is a speaker and the author of numerous teaching materials for German language teachers. She has always been an active person, open to others. In the summer, she cycles and often goes for long walks in the woods, and in the winter she goes skiing with her family. She also enjoys hiking in the mountains. She has a weakness for sweets, which is why she loves baking all sorts of treats. She enjoys reading crime novels, dancing and listening to music.

A 49-year-old woman from Częstochowa in the Silesian Voivodeship, who underwent a thigh amputation in 2025 due to cancer. She loves shanty concerts and getting together with friends, and before her amputation she would always go for walks with her husband at the weekends, usually to the nearby Kraków-Częstochowa Uplands. She gets the most joy from trips to the Baltic Sea or to lakes, canoeing and long walks through the Tatra valleys. A 61-year-old man from Ruda Śląska in the Silesian Voivodeship, who had his leg amputated due to illness. Thanks to his determination, as well as the support of his family, he regained his enthusiasm and is now working towards returning to as normal a life as possible. He has a prosthetic leg and is practising walking. For many years, he worked as an ambulance driver. Today, he would like to return to some form of professional activity. He has resumed driving independently following the fitting of appropriate technical modifications to his car, which has significantly boosted his self-esteem and satisfaction with life. A 43-year-old man from Zdziar Wielki in the Mazovia Voivodeship, who had his left leg amputated at the thigh following a road traffic accident. Football has been his passion since childhood. Before the accident, he played several times a week, and after the amputation he quickly joined the Amp Futbol team. He plays for the REKORD Kuloodporni Bielsko club and for the Polish national team, with whom he has already won two bronze medals at the European Championships. The runners taking part in the Poland Business Run 2026 helped fund the purchase of Rafał’s first prosthetic leg. He had previously managed without one for 14 years, and, as he admits, using the prosthesis has made his daily life much easier. His quality of life has changed so much that today he finds it hard to imagine life without it.

A 48-year-old woman from Pawłówek in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, who was born with a congenital defect in her right leg at thigh level. She is happily married and the mother of a grown-up daughter. She has loved sport since childhood, playing football and badminton, and wanted to do everything that other, able-bodied children did. However, her prosthetic leg posed a challenge, as it kept breaking, limiting her physical abilities. Despite this, she never gave up and continued to pursue her passion for sport, taking part in athletics and training as a weightlifter. Today she is no longer an active athlete, but she still exercises and goes for walks, as regular physical activity helps her maintain a stable weight, which is important when walking with a prosthesis. She really enjoys walking along trails, climbing mountain peaks and baking cakes – particularly cheesecakes – and sourdough bread. She is also passionate about growing potted flowers, including exotic varieties. The support of the runners from the Poland Business Run will enable her to take part in a rehabilitation programme, where she will learn exercises tailored to her specific health condition. As she says, she hopes this will help her build up her fitness so that she can continue to conquer the peaks of the Crown of Polish Mountains.

A 26-year-old man from Kraków in the Małopolska Voivodeship, who has suffered from meningomyelocele since childhood. For years, he has been pursuing his greatest passion: table tennis. He represents Poland in this sport, and his greatest achievements include a bronze medal at the Paralympic Games, a bronze medal at the World Championships and medals at the European Championships. Representing Poland on the international stage is a huge honour for him and a source of motivation to keep working hard. Maksym is also interested in volleyball and the automotive world. He believes that passion, consistency and determination enable one to overcome barriers and realise even the most ambitious dreams. His immediate sporting goal is to qualify for and perform to the best of his ability at the Paralympic Games in Los Angeles. Every training session brings him closer to this goal and motivates him to continue developing.
