A 49-year-old woman from Krakow, Lesser Poland voivodeship. Until 2023, she worked professionally on a window production line and in a cleaning company, among other things. In 2023, she developed malignant breast cancer. She underwent chemotherapy and surgery to remove the breast with reconstruction, and received radiation and hormone therapy. The disease has caused her to have limited range of motion in her left arm, severe knee pain and high blood pressure. However, she is still physically active, has returned to work and is trying to pursue her passions. She loves hiking and cycling. She hopes that post-mastectomy rehabilitation, which she will be able to do thanks to PBR 2025 runners, will enable her to return to full fitness and pursue her greatest interests.

A 41-year-old woman from Krakow, Lesser Poland voivodeship. She was born with a congenital developmental anomaly of her left leg and the complete absence of one of her left shin bones (tibial aplasia). At the age of 12, she underwent amputation of her leg above the knee and immediately began using a prosthesis. Today she walks confidently, without the help of a cane or crutches. She goes out for walks with her dog every day, and the greatest distance she has covered is 10 km. Her vocation in life is psychotherapy, which she has known since the 6th grade of elementary school. She has always wanted to help people get through difficult life situations and better understand themselves. Currently, her work focuses on supporting women on their journey to self-acceptance, developing a deep awareness of their bodies, and developing a warm and caring relationship with themselves. As she says, all her dreams are in some way related to physical activity - she would like to dance bachata, ride a bike or learn to swim, but her health does not allow her to do so. Her family - her husband and two children - are very athletic and she dreams of sharing the joy of an active lifestyle with them. Thanks to the subsidy she will receive, she will be able to benefit from professional rehabilitation after her amputation. She believes that regular training will help her develop healthy habits and keep her physically active.

In his free time he paints murals and paintings, sculpts, rides a motorcycle, spends time actively and reads books. Professionally, he is a health food producer. For several years he had been working on the restoration of a historic building, where he planned to open an oil pressing plant with educational facilities. However, in September 2024, an accident occurred during construction work and a five-ton wall fell on his left leg. An amputation was necessary, dashing his hopes for a fully able-bodied life. Despite this difficult experience, he did not break down but retained his joy of life. He wants to continue his project and lead an active life. He will receive funding for a rehabilitation camp after the amputation, which will allow him to return to professional life and be a full-fledged dad.

He would like to become more physically fit so that he can walk on mountain trails again and go for walks with his dog or play sports. She is a student of the 4th grade of a technical school with a profile in photography. Before the accident, she was very fond of dancing and skating and rollerblading. After the amputation, unfortunately, she had to give up these passions and focused on photography, mainly of nature and animals. She also sees her future in this field. What's more, she also fulfills herself as a volunteer and participates in fund-raisers or events organized for sick children. Her biggest dream is to be able to rollerblade again, as well as to dance and become a dance floor queen, and her participation in an amputee rehabilitation stay will help her achieve this.

She is currently working as an accountant, pursuing her professional fulfillment and developing her competence in planning and organizing. Her passions are reading books and listening to music - in this she finds solace. She dreams of flying in a balloon, even though she has a fear of heights, and to go to a match of the Polish national volleyball team, as she is an avid fan. Funding for a new prosthesis will help her to return to a normal life without pain and to continue her professional work.

He dreams of being able to walk again without problems, spending more active time with his family and playing freely with his children, and returning to his job where he helps other people. A 42-year-old from Pilawa in the Lower Silesian province. Husband and father of three children. In 2020, as a result of a traffic accident, he damaged his spinal cord and became paralyzed. Since then, the wheelchair has been his indispensable tool, without which he could not function. He has always been very active and the accident did not change that. Over time, he has returned to professional and sports activities, as sports have been his passion since childhood. For the past 3 years he has been practicing wheelchair fencing in the wheelchair fencing section of Legia Warsaw. Every year he breaks the boundary of his disability more and more and tries new things. With the VeloAktiv group he took part in the Polish handbike championships. He also participates in sports and charity events, such as the Rally of the Hot Hearts and the Everyone to Paddle campaign. With his wife, he ran in the Warsaw Uprising Run. In 2024, he began his adventure in gliding, starting a glider pilot course. He hopes to complete it successfully and fulfill his childhood dream. After the accident, he also discovered new talents - he started painting and writing poems, which became the best form of self-rehabilitation. Thanks to the support from the Poland Business Run Foundation, he will be able to purchase a new wheelchair, and thus improve his daily comfort and increase his physical activity.

In his immediate area it was difficult for him to get advice or organise any exercise for amputees. He is very satisfied with the stay and is optimistic to carry on. The exercises were quite hard and he was exhausted at times, but he got better every day and gained a will to live. At the same time, he received the necessary knowledge about the prosthesis and rehabilitation work from the physiotherapists, which he can now use in everyday life.

He was born with orthopaedic defects: a missing right hand and forearm, two fused fingers in his left hand, a shortened and bent tibia, and a missing fibula, ankle joint, metatarsal bone and ligaments in the knee of his right leg. He has already undergone 12 operations, including the ankle joint, knee and finger separation of his left hand, and his tibia has also been lengthened three times. He is rehabilitated daily and moves around using a crutch. Thanks to the runners of the Poland Business Run 2025, he will be able to undergo a rehabilitation course after the amputation, learn to walk properly and also take care of his spine, which is curved as a result of defects. On a daily basis, he loves putting Lego Ninjago bricks together and playing the guitar, despite the lack of his right hand and forearm.

For 24 years she moved without a prosthesis, which put a great strain on her body and made daily life difficult. Last year, thanks to funding from the Foundation, she was able to purchase a state-of-the-art electronic prosthetic leg, which, with such a high amputation, is a huge support for her. She also took part in a post-amputation rehabilitation camp at the “Znowu w Biegu” Rehabilitation Centre, which she will repeat this year. On top of this, she will have consultations with a psychologist, dietician and podiatrist. As a result, she will become more fit and independent - both at work and in everyday life, improve her shape, lead a more active life and pursue her dreams. Her passion is gardening and spending time among plants gives her great joy and allows her to calm down. She also loves driving and visiting interesting places - it gives her a sense of independence and opens her up to the world. Although learning to walk on her prosthesis is hard and demanding work, she is happy to be able to take these steps, as each one is a step towards a better life.

As she says, she still has many dreams to fulfil, including getting back on two legs and back to work, as well as visiting castles and climbing more mountain peaks. Thanks to the runners of the Poland Business Run 2025, she will be able to participate in a rehabilitation camp, which will open the door to her life anew and allow her to be more independent in everyday life and pursue her passions.
