We’re looking for beneficiaries of Poland Business Run 2025! Could it be you?

10.04.2025

Poland Business Run is the largest charitable business relay race in Poland. The funds raised thanks to the incredible commitment of our runners will be used to support people with mobility impairments, limb amputations, as well as those recovering from mastectomy.

Applications for funding are accepted throughout the year, but especially during this springtime—before race registrations begin—we are actively searching for people who need our help this year.

"According to data from the National Health Fund (NFZ), around 12,000 limb amputations are performed in Poland every year. That means 12,000 people and their loved ones face the enormous challenge of raising funds for a high-quality prosthesis, while also undergoing intensive, specialized rehabilitation and learning how to function again in everyday life. Most often, this means learning to walk with a prosthetic limb. On top of that comes the need to cope with the loss, confront a changed body image, and believe once again that a full life is possible. A special case of amputation is mastectomy. Nearly 25,000 of these procedures are performed each year in Poland. Recovery and regaining fitness—whether after an amputation or a mastectomy—is not a challenge that one person can face alone; it requires a whole team of specialists. That’s why we’re here—and today, we want to tell you: give yourself a chance. We are here to help you." - says Agnieszka Pleti, President of the Poland Business Run Foundation.

So far, the Poland Business Run Foundation has supported 1,152 individuals after amputations, mastectomies, and with other mobility impairments in various ways. Among our beneficiaries this year is Małgorzata—a 27-year-old teacher from Kraków who, following a traffic accident and an amputation, is undergoing rehabilitation at our Center to maintain as much mobility as possible. We will also help 45-year-old Teresa purchase a new prosthesis so she can remain professionally active and fulfill her dream of taking a hot air balloon ride. Meanwhile, Agata and Ewa, who have both undergone mastectomies, joined us for rehabilitation stays to regain their health and have the opportunity to pursue their passions—hiking and traveling across Europe.

How can we help you?

  • We provide funding for the purchase of limb prostheses, and sometimes other rehabilitation equipment.
  • We run the only rehabilitation and gait training center in Poland for people after amputations — the Znowu w Biegu Rehabilitation Center in Kraków. We also organize specialized rehabilitation stays there for individuals after limb amputations and mastectomies.
  • We offer specialized psychotraumatological support for people facing the challenges of loss and change following an amputation or mastectomy.
  • We run the Support Trainers project — these are individuals who have themselves gone through illness or accidents and now share their experiences to support others at the beginning of a similar journey.
  • We organize gait training camps, educational retreats for women after mastectomy, sports and integration events, as well as various workshops. We also help build a network of friendship and mutual support.
  • We offer comprehensive support to people after amputations and mastectomies on their path toward rebuilding a fulfilling life.

Who will benefit most from our support?

  • People after amputation, mastectomy, or those with a newly acquired mobility impairment who want to fight for their physical fitness with the comprehensive support of a qualified team.
  • Individuals who need financial assistance for the purchase, replacement, or servicing of a prosthesis, as well as other orthopedic equipment.
  • People who already walk with a prosthesis—even for many years—but would like to improve their gait or prepare for advanced sports activities.
  • Those who have a prosthesis but haven’t adapted to it or haven’t learned to walk with it, and would like to give it another try.
  • Individuals who, after an accident or illness, feel like they’re alone in their situation—some who may have stayed at home or even in bed for years, slowly losing hope that anything in life can change.
  • People who want to find their place again in everyday life, including in social and professional environments.
  • Others, after amputations or mastectomy, who need support in any of these areas.
