Poland Business Run is the largest charitable business relay race in Poland. The funds raised thanks to the incredible commitment of our runners will be used to support people with mobility impairments, limb amputations, as well as those recovering from mastectomy.
Applications for funding are accepted throughout the year, but especially during this springtime—before race registrations begin—we are actively searching for people who need our help this year.
"According to data from the National Health Fund (NFZ), around 12,000 limb amputations are performed in Poland every year. That means 12,000 people and their loved ones face the enormous challenge of raising funds for a high-quality prosthesis, while also undergoing intensive, specialized rehabilitation and learning how to function again in everyday life. Most often, this means learning to walk with a prosthetic limb. On top of that comes the need to cope with the loss, confront a changed body image, and believe once again that a full life is possible. A special case of amputation is mastectomy. Nearly 25,000 of these procedures are performed each year in Poland. Recovery and regaining fitness—whether after an amputation or a mastectomy—is not a challenge that one person can face alone; it requires a whole team of specialists. That’s why we’re here—and today, we want to tell you: give yourself a chance. We are here to help you." - says Agnieszka Pleti, President of the Poland Business Run Foundation.
So far, the Poland Business Run Foundation has supported 1,152 individuals after amputations, mastectomies, and with other mobility impairments in various ways. Among our beneficiaries this year is Małgorzata—a 27-year-old teacher from Kraków who, following a traffic accident and an amputation, is undergoing rehabilitation at our Center to maintain as much mobility as possible. We will also help 45-year-old Teresa purchase a new prosthesis so she can remain professionally active and fulfill her dream of taking a hot air balloon ride. Meanwhile, Agata and Ewa, who have both undergone mastectomies, joined us for rehabilitation stays to regain their health and have the opportunity to pursue their passions—hiking and traveling across Europe.
