We can no longer imagine Pink October, or Breast Cancer Awareness Month, without the Meet the Pink campaign, carried out jointly with the Rehabilitation Center ‘Znowu w Biegu’. This year - thanks to funding from the Poland Business Run 2024 charity run - five beneficiaries participated free of charge in a rehabilitation and education camp for women after mastectomy.
October is when we pay special attention to preventive examinations (mammography, ultrasound), regular breast self-examination, and leading a healthy lifestyle among women worldwide. All this is done to prevent or detect the disease at its early stage.
The Poland Business Run Foundation has been supporting women after mastectomy for several years, including subsidizing dedicated rehabilitation and psychological support. Through the Meet the Pink campaign, we want to raise awareness of breast cancer prevention and provide “smart support” to patients in our community.
Attuned to women's needs
The rehabilitation and education turnout in Krakow is designed for post-mastectomy patients from all over Poland who have undergone breast amputation in the past 12 months. The event aims to provide physiotherapeutic and psychological assistance and make their lives more comfortable after the surgery.
This year’s camp was held from 2 to 5 October, during which a team of specialists helped five participants recover from mastectomy. The schedule included lectures with a nutritionist, physiotherapist, psychologist, and urophysiotherapist, manual therapy and exercises in the hall, facial yoga, a walk in Krakow, nordic walking, and a workshop on making lucky bracelets.
The entire Meet The Pink turnout brought many benefits to the participants, both physical and emotional. The exercises they took part in helped restore their full physical fitness and improve the range of motion in their arms and chest. Manual therapy had a positive effect on reducing muscle tension, improving circulation, and speeding up recovery processes. It was a time when each of the beneficiaries could relax and take care of themselves and their bodies. Thank you to everyone who made this possible!
At the same time, we would like to remind you that women after mastectomy can apply for rehabilitation funding from our Foundation all the time. For more information, see the “How to become a beneficiary?” tab.
Increase knowledge and awareness in companies
As part of Meet the Pink, we can also organize lectures on breast cancer prevention at your company. These will be meetings with exceptional experts, including a psychologist and physiotherapist from the Rehabilitation Center ‘Znowu w Biegu’, who will talk about breast cancer prevention and how to get properly screened, as well as provide participants with a handful of tools for coping when someone close to them is struggling with cancer. The event will also feature our female beneficiaries, who will share their stories and experiences and show how they coped with the disease.
Last year, the project was very popular among companies, and their employees found participation in the meetings valuable, so we want to invite more organizations to join us! If you want to raise awareness of breast cancer prevention in your company, feel free to contact Mark Osika ([email protected]). Thanks a lot!
