For years, in mid-June, beneficiaries of the Poland Business Run Foundation have been meeting in Krakow. In this way, we build a network of mutual support, create an opportunity to exchange experiences and remind that no one is alone in the experience of amputation or mastectomy.
This year, we decided to spend this day actively and sportily. We know well that physical activity is one of the best ways to regain health and fitness. And doing something competitive perfectly restores a sense of one's own strength and agency. That is why we invited our beneficiaries to a kayaking trip along a slightly wild part of the Vistula, towards the Benedictine Abbey in Tyniec.
Over 60 people – with mobility disabilities, after amputation and mastectomy, as well as their loved ones – reported in the morning at the kayaking port. After a short training, we jumped into life jackets, grabbed the oars and set off to admire Krakow from the perspective of the river.
Many people kayaked for the first time that day, overcoming their own fear and uncertainty. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and the water gently carried us, reminding us that disability doesn’t mean the end of dreams. The trip lasted two hours and we returned tired, but also tanned, laughing, proud and happy.
We spent the rest of the day at the Unicorn Psycho-Oncology Center, where we rested, lay on the grass and enjoyed each other's company. We were also visited by representatives of the women's team of Amp Futbol Polska, who talked about the role of sport, their games and training camps, as well as the bronze medal they brought back from the World Championships in Colombia!
– I would like to thank the entire Poland Business Run team from the bottom of my heart for the great time and for the great adventure, where I could overcome my paralyzing fear of such deep water – says Małgorzata, Beneficiary of Poland Business Run 2025.
We would like to congratulate our beneficiaries for their courage in reaching for new challenges!
We are glad that we could be with you on this day. :)
