Meet the Pink – breast cancer awareness project

14.10.2022

15 October is European Breast Cancer Day. This is a good time to remind you that this year our Foundation has supported 34 post-mastectomy women by subsidising their dedicated rehabilitation and psychological support. But that's not all! As part of 'Pink October', we are implementing, together with the Rehabilitation Centre Znowu w Biegu, the Meet the Pink project, which aims to raise awareness of breast cancer prevention and provide 'smart support' to patients in our community.

As part of the project, we have planned 3 online talks with three exceptional women. The first meeting is already behind us. In an extremely energetic power speech, our beneficiary Agata Wiklik-Szczeblewska talked about her journey, during which she had to face two cancers (Hodgkin's lymphoma and breast cancer). Despite this, she says, she strives to live more fully than she did before cancer.

Other scheduled lectures include meetings with specialists from the Rehabilitation Centre ‘Znowu w Biegu’ - physiotherapist Karolina Świątek, who will talk about breast cancer prevention and how to examine oneself properly, and psychologist Dr Urszula Horwath, who will provide participants with a handful of tools for coping with a situation when someone close to you falls ill.

The Qurate company has signed up to pilot the project and its employees are already taking part in valuable meetings, increasing their knowledge of breast cancer prevention and gaining valuable coping skills.

We invite further parties interested in the topic and in meeting with experts to contact us: [email protected].

At the same time, we would like to remind you that women after mastectomy can still apply to our Foundation for funding for rehabilitation. More information in the "For the Beneficiaries" tab.
