Beneficiaries of the run wanted!

04.04.2024

We have just started the call for applications for beneficiaries of the Poland Business Run 2024 charity business relay. To date, we have supported more than 1,000 people with physical disabilities, amputations and mastectomies from all over Poland. If you or someone close to you is in need of funding to purchase prosthetic limbs, a wheelchair, medical equipment, rehabilitation or psychological support, apply today.

Tomasz - a 27-year-old from Krakow who lost his leg in a traffic accident. His greatest passions are dancing, football and classic cars. He dreams of one day dancing at his wedding, going to a football match and setting off on a truck tour of Europe. Katarzyna is a 42-year-old from the Małopolska voivodship, who has been suffering from bone cancer for 13 years, as a result of which her left leg was amputated. She would like to one day return to her former fitness to be able to work again in her beloved profession as a nursery school teacher. Jarosław, 65, from Zawiercie, lost his right leg at thigh level last year due to ischaemia. Funding for a rehabilitation programme for learning to walk will help him get back to functioning well, walk without crutches and fulfil his dreams, including travelling around Poland.

- These are just some of the many stories that reach the Poland Business Run Foundation. Every year we help more than 100 people, and this is still a drop in the ocean of needs. The number of patients without a limb who need prostheses and rehabilitation is growing every year. Meanwhile, the cost of a prosthesis is an expense of several dozen to several hundred thousand PLN, and it is necessary to be able to live and work normally, says Agnieszka Pleti, President of the Poland Business Run Foundation.

Let us remember that this equipment also needs to be serviced and some elements need to be replaced from time to time. Thanks to people and companies involved in the Poland Business Run, amputees also benefit from psychological support, specialised rehabilitation, preparation for prostheses and learning to walk.

The second group of beneficiaries are people after mastectomy procedures. The number of applications for assistance is constantly increasing, as breast cancer is now the most common malignant tumour among women in Poland. According to data from 2020, the number of cases has exceeded 24,000. Patients who have undergone the disease still face, among other things, pain, limited mobility or swelling of the hand after treatment. In such a case, comprehensive rehabilitation is crucial, which can be carried out, among others, at the Rehabilitation Centre Again on the Run in Kraków, which organises rehabilitation holidays for female beneficiaries of the Poland Business Run after mastectomy, as well as after amputation.

How to receive funding as part of the Poland Business Run 2024?

In order to become a beneficiary of this year's edition of the charity run and receive support, all you need to do is fill in, sign and send an application - either through the online form on the website or traditionally by post. The complete set of documents with attachments is available at www.polandbusinessrun.pl under the tab For Beneficiaries.

All documents are examined by a committee appointed by the board, directing aid primarily to those most in need. The form of support is individually tailored to the needs of a particular person. Minors can also count on financial assistance, but then the application should be submitted by the parents or legal guardian.

Additional questions about financial support are answered by Klaudia Kaniewska, co-ordinator of the Support Department (e-mail: [email protected], tel. 504 458 979) from Tuesday to Friday between 11:00 and 15:00.
